Alma Theresia Kilian, 87, of Smithville, went home to Heaven, Wednesday, January 4, 2017. Alma was born in Fayette County on May 1, 1929 to Martha (Fick) and Karl Biehle.
Alma was a homemaker who loved caring for her 5 boys and 4 girls. She was very multi-talented woman! She sewed the girl's clothes, painted and embellished T-shirts, canned, and was an excellent cook and baker. Her garden was a place of jubilant color and floral arranging came naturally. After a full day of homemaking, Alma was off to waitress at Ray's Café at Rocky Hill or the Barn Door in Smithville. On her day off, all the family would gather at her home to enjoy time together over a wonderful meal.
Alma was a devoted mother and taught her children independence and responsibility. She established a routine and everyone knew and took their tasks seriously, to say she was organized would be an understatement!
One of Alma's proudest times was when, at 83 years young, she presented to her children the Olympic trophy she had won in the series of challenges and games held at the nursing home where she resided. Alma felt blessed to have Carol Carter as her roommate at the home. They shared many delightful conversations and especially appreciated crossword time with Kathy.
Surviving her with cherished memories are daughters, Kathy Pesl and (Danny), Connie Beck and (Daniel), Donna Galban, Sandy Hendrix and (Chad); sons, Rickie Synatschk, Dennis Synatschk and (Nadia), and Jason Synatschk. Also missing their grandmother with love are 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Alma is preceded by her husband, Martin Kilian, her parents, sons Dennis and Garry Synatschk, daughter-in-law Vera Synatschk, son-in-law Domingo Galban, and grandson Kacey Hendrix.
Funeral services are Saturday, January 7, 2017 at St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Winchester with interment following at the church cemetery.
