Alvin A. Janecek

Smithville

Alvin August Janecek was born in Kirtley, Texas on November 1, 1939, to Alvin Willie Janecek and Elsie Ann Hofferek Janecek. Alvin graduated from Smithville High School Class of 1959. After graduating Alvin met the Love of his life Nancy Haschke. They were married December 2, 1961, at St Paul Catholic Church in Smithville and were happily married 62 years. They were blessed with 4 children.


Alvin went to Heaven on January 28, 2024 at the age of 84. He passed peacefully with his family by his side.


He was preceded in death by his grandparents Rudolf and Louise Janecek, his parents Alvin and Elsie Janecek, brother Joe Janecek, and grandson Joshua Goode.


Alvin leaves behind his loving wife Nancy, daughter Janice Marie Lucas husband Bobby, daughter Carol Ann Rice husband Daniel, son Robert Wayne Janecek, son Brian Alan Janecek, along with many friends and family.


He had 10 grandchildren: Darren, Joshua, Lauren, Robin, Braden, Chris, Joshua Lucas, E’lizabeth, Natasha and Kim, along with 13 great grandchildren: Arabella, Emily, Lilliana, Shep, Rilla, Loni, Melanie, Brantley, Liam, Tristen, Colton, Colby, and Camrie.


He worked in Houston, Texas for Hillman Distributing for 18 years and when he retired and moved back to Smithville, Texas where he and his brother opened an antique tractor sales and restoration shop. Later he went to work for Smithville Independent School District.


During his retirement he enjoyed gardening, fixing and painting different items in his shop and most of all enjoyed having garage sales. His pride and joy was his 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass convertible that he loved to drive around town with the top down.


Alvin enjoyed people and spent a lot of his time visiting family and many friends whether it was at their house or the nursing home. He made his regular rounds every week. When he was visiting friends and family he had a smile on his face and joy in his heart. Alvin’s known for letting you know he was “83 and don’t take no medicine”.


Alvin was a devout Catholic all his life and may he rest in Peace.


Visitation will begin at 5:00pm and the Rosary will begin at 6:00pm on Sunday, February 4, 2024 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home. 

The funeral home is located at 110 American Legion Road in Smithville, Texas. 

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Monday, February 5, 2024 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery. 

St. Paul Catholic Church is located at 204 Mills Street in Smithville, Texas.
