Arthur Frerich

Arthur Lee Frerich of Rosanky, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018 at the age of 90.

He was born to the late Martin and Anne Frerich on March 24, 1928 in String Prairie, Texas. He married Lemma LaRue Smith of Rosanky in 1950. They lived in San Antonio until 1973. During that time, they had four children: Donna Lee, Ronnie Lynn, Dayle Lee and Doyle Lee. Arthur worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad, before migrating to Rosanky in the summer of 1973.

While Arthur was a rancher, he had many other titles. He was the manager of the fabulous “Midnight Owls”, head of the feed department at Owl Ranch Supply, and later in his life he was the head of security and greeter at Rosanky Dollar, where he kept everyone in line. “Mr. Owl” always had time to talk to all of his many friends, whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lemma “Tiny” of 67 years, son Dayle and daughter-in-law Janet, who all passed away in 2017.

He is survived by his children Donna, Ronnie and wife Laura, Doyle, and daughter-in-law Natalie. He is also survived by his granddaughters Dusti Goertz, Shelby Frerich, Kelsie Frerich, Kacie Frerich, Caroline Frerich and Rachel Frerich. He is also survived by his brother, David Frerich and wife Cathy.

We would like to send a special THANK YOU to the staff and nurses at Lost Pines Nursing Home in Bastrop who made his stay there during his last several months a little more enjoyable. He grew very attached to his nurses who he called his “sweethearts”. They went above and beyond to make his stay there pleasant.

Visitation will take place Monday, September 10th from 6pm to 7pm at St. Mary’s String Prairie with Rosary following. Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church in Rockne on Tuesday, September 11th at 10:30 am with interment to follow in String Prairie.
