Billy James Otto, 77, died in his sleep on Saturday. Billy’s life came full circle having been born on October 8,1940 and passing away on June 30, 2018 on the family’s home place in Rosanky, Texas.
Billy graduated from Smithville High School and had numerous business ventures throughout his life. He owned Otto’s Water Well Service, ran Red Arrow Freightline Company, was an electrician, but most of all he was a cowboy. Horses were his passion and he was a member of the AQHA and NRCHA. He spent most of his adult life at Cutting Horse Competitions as both a participant and a judge. He was also the cowboy cook behind Bush’s Campfire Cowboy Peas. Billy enjoyed good food and good times and could often be found enjoying a game of pool at the local bar, or watching sports and enjoying a cocktail or two.
Billy James Otto was the son of the late H.A. (Snooky) and Marjorie Otto of Rosanky. He is survived by one brother, Ricky Otto & wife Becky of Danbury and their family. Also surviving are Doris Otto; two sons, Todd & wife Lisa of Austin and Chad & wife Nancy of La Grange; two grandchildren, Brent Otto & wife Katrina and Britney Schielack & husband Brandon, both of La Grange; two step-grandchildren, Josh and Allegra; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will take place at All Faiths of the Pines in Smithville, TX on Saturday, July 7th. Visitation is scheduled for 9:00 am with the memorial service beginning at 10:30 am, with Bubba Fowler officiating
