Bonna Ruth Ray

Bonna Ruth Ray, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 11, 2025, in Smithville, Texas. Born on April 4, 1946, in Alliance, Ohio, Bonna’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith and devotion to helping others.

For seven years, Bonna wholeheartedly served as a missionary in Mozambique, Africa. Then recently, partnering with RVICS since 2015. Her passion for sharing the love of God shone brightly throughout her life. A graduate of Johnson University in Knoxville, Tennessee, Bonna earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Bible, alongside a minor in Youth Ministry and Christian Education, laying a strong foundation for her impactful career.

Bonna was married to her devoted husband, Jon C. Ray, for an incredible fifty-nine years. Together, they nurtured a loving family that blossomed with the laughter and love of their daughters: Amee Passauer, Jonna (Scott) DeWitt, and Doriann (Gregg) Breisch. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren—Jonathan, Adrianna (Tyler), Amara, Madison, Mason, Abby, Zeke, and Lyla—as well as her great-grandchild, Geno. She is also survived by a brother and two sisters.

A vibrant personality with a boundless spirit, Bonna was renowned for her boldness in faith and her commitment to helping others. Whether as a preschool teacher, a Bible study leader, or volunteering at the Red Cross, she dedicated herself to uplifting those around her. Bonna's compassion extended to helping widows earn a living and serving as a volunteer EMT at the local fire department, showcasing her selfless nature. As a Girl Scout Leader, she created unforgettable camping experiences and navigated the fun of cookie sales, embracing the joys of guiding young girls.

An avid crafter and fabulous quilter, Bonna took immense joy in creating beautifully handmade items, gifting them to friends and family, weaving warmth into every stitch.

Bonna was preceded in death by her parents, Kathryn Stickle and Charles Snyder, and her great-granddaughter, Gabriella. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and faith that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Celebration of Life in honor of Bonna will be held on February 1, 2025, at RVICS Village in Smithville, TX, at 10:30 AM, with service concluding at 11:30 AM. In this gathering, those who loved her will come together to remember the incredible impact of her life, the warmth of her smile, and the kindness of her spirit.
