Cathy Smith

Mrs. Cathy Jeanne Mobley - Smith went home to her Lord and Savior shortly after 6pm on
Sunday, February 3, 2019. She was born on December 19, 1939 in Austin Texas.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Gordon M. Smith of Smithville; daughter
Cassandra (Cassy) Smith of Fort Worth; daughter Kendra (Kendi) Erickson and husband
Mike; granddaughter Jordon Erickson; sister Melba Rose Schneider of Austin, nephew
Randy Schneider and wife Sharon; niece Patti Klepacki of Austin; Sister-n-law Bonnie Hood
and husband Henry of Houston, niece Jennifer Disney and husband James of Minnesota;
niece Suzanne Holmstrom and husband Fritz of Houston; and many close and dear cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Thomas Ray and Mrs. Dulce Anne Mobley
of Austin; brother-in-law Eugene W. Schneider of Austin; parents-in-law Mr. Monroe W. and
Mrs. Ella Joyce Smith of Bellville.

Cathy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and teacher. She
obtained her BFA in Radio, Television, Film from the University of Houston in 1962. She
married her sweetheart on December 28, 1963 in Houston Texas. She worked as secretary to
the chairman of the University of Houston Radio - TV department. She also served as church
secretary at University Baptist and North East Baptist in Austin. She worked in admissions for
Austin Community College for several years. She later obtained a Master's in Education at Texas
State University in 1995. She became an Assistant Professor of Developmental Reading at Austin
Community College until she retired in 2004.

The family would like to express our deepest thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Texas
Oncology and St. David's Hospital - North Austin Medical Center, for the loving and dedicated
care she received.
