Elnora Smith Swearingen, was born on September 5, 1933 and left this world on November 2, 2019, shortly after celebrating her 86th birthday.
Elnora was the daughter of Steven and Lela May Smith and attended Austin High School, where she was the drum major. She married the love of her life, Douglas Swearingen at the age of 16 and they had four children, Richard Weldon, Violet, Starr and Donna. They began their lives in Austin, Texas, moving to the Bastrop area around 1958.
Elnora was very involved in the Texas 4-H as an adult leader and attended numerous events to watch her children then later in life to watch grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a love for travel, camping, reading and solving word puzzles.
Elnora is survived by her daughters, Violet (Mike) John, Starr (Jimmy) Waneck and Donna (Mark) Bartsch and daughter-in-law Vanessa Swearingen; grandchildren Wendy Swearingen, Brad (Tina) Bartsch, Chris (Christy) Beck, John (Marci) Bartsch, Tami (Robby) Justice, Crystal (Matthew) Lutz, Misty (Matt) Vasquez, Vincent (Kim) Bartsch, Jessica (Chase) Hodges, and Colleen Bartsch; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Elnora was proceeded in death by her parents, four siblings-Ruby Harvey, Eldridge Smith, Steve Smith, and Christine Sherrill, her loving husband of 46 years, Douglas; her son Weldon and granddaughter Sandra.
Everyone who knew Ninnie knew she was a feisty one and was always ready to give her opinion about everything, whether it was asked for or not. She had a way to do all things, and “THAT” was the right way. With all that being said, for years she has been making notes and comments about how she wished her funeral to be, a couple of months ago she planned and picked out the final things, and we are doing our best to fulfill all of her requests.
Services will be at All Faiths of the Pines in Smithville, Texas. Visitation Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 9:30-10:30 am with the funeral services immediately following at 10:30. Burial will be at Upper Cedar Creek Cemetery.
