Ewell M Adamcik

October 8, 1927 — March 23, 2025

Ewell Maude Adamcik, 97, was called home to our Lord on March 23, 2025. She was born on October 8, 1927, in Arcadia, Louisiana, to Ewell and Maude Roberson. She grew up alongside her younger sister, Jean, and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1944. Ewell went on to earn a Secondary Teaching Degree in Business from Louisiana Tech University, where she was an active member of the Blue Jackets Drill Team and the Alpha Chi Omega sorority.

Ewell began her teaching career in Hebbronville, Texas, where she met her future husband, Ervin. The couple married in November 1949, sharing 60 wonderful years together. She paused her teaching career for a decade to support Ervin's work as a surveyor with Continental Oil.

In 1959, their daughter Angela was born. In 1961, the family moved to Smithville, Texas, where they would spend the next 49 years. Ewell resumed her teaching career in 1962, dedicating 30 years to inspiring students as a business and typing teacher at Smithville High School.

Ewell was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church and actively involved in the Smithville Public Library and the Smithville Women’s Club. She valued community and cherished meeting new people and reconnecting with friends.

Summers were filled with family adventures, exploring the United States, and visiting Ervin’s extended family in the Smithville area. After retiring in 1992, Ewell and Ervin enjoyed traveling through Europe, taking ship cruises, and spending time with their grandchildren in Round Rock, Texas.

Following Ervin’s passing in 2010, Ewell moved to the Conservatory Senior Residences in Austin to be closer to her daughter.

Ewell leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and kindness. She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ewell was preceded in death by her parents Ewell and Maude Roberson, sister Jean Throneberry, husband Ervin Adamcik, and grandson Brian Carver. She is survived by her daughter Angela and son-in-law Walter Carver; granddaughter Brooke and her husband Steven Peterson; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Avery, and Adelyn.
