Gaylen Janice Meuth, 62, of Bastrop, ascended into the arms of her loved ones who passed before her on December 18, 2022.
Gaylen Janice Mathis was born to Carletta P Galloway and George Mathis on November 11, 1960. She attended Crockett High School and graduated from Hope High School in Hope, Arkansas.
She married George Meuth of Rosanky in 1980. They had 3 children, Brent Cristen and Trevor, She later remarried and had 2 more children, Dakota and Kailen.
Gaylen loved sports. She was actively involved in her children’s little league teams, which was something she continued with grandchildren. She was an avid fan of the University of Texas. Any time they were on TV, she was watching.
She loved to help people and her resume reflected that. She worked for Manor Downs as an inspector, she traveled the country while working for the IRS as a Union Representative, and assisted those in need while working as a caregiver for Visiting Angels.
Gaylen enjoyed dancing, going to concerts and rodeos with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Mathis; and her partner, Shawn Harris. She is survived by her mother, Carletta P. Galloway; her brothers, Jay, Jerry, Greg and Glenn; sister, Glenis; children, Brent, Cristen, Trevor, Kody, Kailen and 20 grandchildren.
A Gathering of Family and Friends to Celebrate the life of Gaylen Meuth will take place from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home in Smithville, Texas.
