Harold Sewart, Jr.

Harold Yorke Sewart, Jr. known from birth as Skeeter, passed away February 1, 2020 at his home in Smithville, Texas.  He was the beloved son of Col (ASFA Ret) H.Y. “Butch” Sewart, Sr, and Mabel Francis Lewis Sewart.  Born in Burtonwood, England, he traveled with his military family finally settling in Shalimar, Florida.  Upon completion of his college work, he began what became a lifetime of service his community.  First as a police officer with the Fort Walton Beach Florida Police Department, the Okaloosa County Florida Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Marine Patrol. He retired from the Okaloosa County Florida Sheriff’s Office at the rank of Sergeant and was entrusted with the firearms training section.  Upon retirement he and his wife moved to Smithville, Texas, a small town with a big heart with which he fell in love at first sight. He continued service his community with many volunteer organizations: Smithville Noon Lions Club, where he served as past president and tail twister; The Smithville Texas Chamber of Commerce where he chaired the Film Commission and was involved with many film productions; WJ Nixon Masonic Lodge where he served as a past master; The Smithville Food Pantry along with  many other organizations to which he could not say no. His most recent volunteer service fulfilled a lifelong love of B-17 Warbirds. His involvement with the CAF-Gulf Coast Wing brought joy, friendships and a lot of oil stains.  He served as wrench turner apprentice and load master and enjoyed several tours the Wing conducted.

He is survived by his best friend and wife, Deborah of Smithville, Texas; cherished children, Shirley Joe Sewart Maltais and husband Andy of Shalimar, Florida; Christian Lewis Sewart and wife Rozlyn of Tucson, Arizona; Bis Sis Diana Doris Sewart Emery of Crestview, Florida; devoted grandson, William Richard Sewart of Shalimar, Florida and beautiful twin granddaughters, Jaslyn and Bailey Sewart of Tucson, Arizona. He leaves many dear and cherished friends in Florida law enforcement community, the CAF Wing and his adopted hometown of Smithville, Texas.  His family was comforted and uplifted by all the kind thoughts and prayers sent by his many, many friends.

In keeping with his wishes, private family services will be held at a later date.  To celebrate his life, Skeeter request his many friends hold their loved ones just a little tighter and have a shot of Jack in his memory.  Memorials may be made in his name to the CAF Gulf Coast Wing 2257, N Loop 336, W Suite 140, Conroe Texas, 77304.  ATTN: Nancy Kwiecien - “To Keep’em Flying” or a charity of your choice.
