Ima B. Drake, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the Towers Nursing Home in Smithville TX, a caring and loving community.
She was born October 7, 1927 in Cayuga, TX to Joseph Henry Rampy and Artie May Drake. Ima worked 25-plus years as Office Manager at Hannath Grocery until she retired. After retirement she worked as a nanny. Ima had one son, William Charles Harris and was married to the love of her life, LM Drake of Smithville.
Ima loved gardening, fried catfish, westerns, game shows, her grandkids and shooting the breeze with her neighbors, friends, friends of friends, Hannath’s customers and anyone who walked on by. She loved people. She especially loved being an extra grandma, mom and friend to the Briggs family. She could be found on the back row by the window of the Young School House Church and husband LM could be found on the backrow at the other end. They had their spots and they stuck to them.
Left to honor and remember her love are Ima’s four grandchildren, Julie Harris, Jennifer Lewing, Corey Harris and Tara Harris; six great-grandchildren, Josiah, Kainoa , MaKaila, William, Brye and John, niece Martha Hamilton, nephew Robert Rampy, cousin James Bradburry and cousin Virginia Draemer. Ima is preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph and son. Ima will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother and friend.
The family would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation our gratitude to all the staff at the Towers Nursing Home for their attentiveness and loving care. Additional appreciation is offered for all who have loved and cared for our beloved Grannie Ima and to thank those who have stopped to chat and shoot the breeze with Ima. We are grateful that she knows Jesus and that all who know Jesus will see her again soon.
