Irene Mccreight

Irene Frances “Vicki” Barringer McCreight was born September 7, 1932 in Burnet, Texas.  She passed away peacefully on December 1, 2020 at the age of 88.  She was preceded in death by her parents John D. Barringer and Celia Bowers Barringer, siblings Vasel, Billy and Lila Barringer, beloved husband William H. “Bill” McCreight, and furry companions Ginger and Peanut.  She is survived by her daughter Denice Bettencourt of Austin, granddaughter and husband Missy and Sam Canavati, and great grandson Anthony Canavati (the twinkle in her eye) of Corpus Christi.

She lived in Austin and married the love of her life.  When he retired, they moved to Smithville where they lived for over 25 years.  She began painting and became a member of the Art League of Smithville.  She also enjoyed spending her days gardening, doing crossword puzzles and watching wildlife.

Her family wants to thank the nurses and staff at Brookdale Spicewood Springs Nursing Facility in Austin, Hospice Austin, and her long-time primary care physician Dr. James Hull for their care and support especially during the last year of her illness.
