It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janice Ruth Coon, who went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 3:52 a.m. Janice was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was defined by love, family, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ.
Born to nurture and care, Janice dedicated her life to those she held dear, and her kindness and strength touched all who knew her. A devoted Christian, she found comfort and guidance in the Lord and shared His love through her actions, words, and prayers. Her faith was a beacon to her family, and she instilled the values of love, compassion, and integrity in all those around her.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years, Claudey Roger Coon, who stood by her side through a lifetime of love and partnership.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Vernon Dawson, Sr., her mother, Myrtle Eugene Dawson, her brother, Thomas Vernon Dawson, II, and her grandson, Matthew Miller.
Janice’s legacy lives on through her siblings, children, and their families:
Siblings: Joyce Jones (McGregor, Texas) and Paula Kinnin (Brownwood, Texas).
Children: Angela Lois Price and her husband Jason Price (Paris, Arkansas) and their children: Erica Tripp and her children Jonathan, Phillip Aaron, and Sean; Elizabeth Collins and her children Hayden and Hadley; Josh Miller; Dr. Jess Mendiola and her children Lala, Kami and Ayden; Christopher Miller; Rachel Douglas and her children Abbie, Carson, and Grayson; Andrew Miller and his children Ryder and Rhett; Tiffiney Kroupa and her children Gavin, Addie, and River; Ashley Price; and Shaley Elmore and her daughter Ivory.
Timothy Roger Coon and his wife Brenda Coon (Smithville, Texas) and their children: Kimberly Castleberry and her son Maddox; and Mason Coon and his children Colton and Charlie Rae.
Naomi Ruth Austin and her husband Jason Austin (Saint Robert, Missouri) and their children: Jordan, Grant, and Brooklyn.
Michael Eugene Coon and his wife Alysha Coon (Carl Junction, Missouri) and their children: Deanna Whitaker, Dalynn, Riley, and Waylon.
Janice’s unwavering love for her family and her dedication to her role as a mother and grandmother brought warmth and joy to countless lives. Her strength, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her. Her faith in Christ was a cornerstone of her life, and we take comfort in knowing she now rests in His eternal embrace.
A service to honor Janice’s life will be held at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate her memory, her faith, and the incredible impact she made during her time on earth.
Rest in peace, dear Janice. Your love, faith, and legacy live on in all of us.
