Jerald (Jerry) Reagan Coger passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2025, after a brief illness. Jerry was born on March 11, 1939, to Max Reagan Coger and Anna Laura (Wiseman) Coger in Russellville, Arkansas and was raised in Danville, Arkansas.
Upon high school graduation, he attended Arkansas Tech University in Russellville before serving in the Army and Army National Guard. He earned a pharmacy degree at Northeast Louisiana State College in 1969 and returned to Danville to work with his parents (both pharmacists) at their store (Coger Drugs) in Danville.
Upon leaving Arkansas for Texas, he worked in Dallas as a hospital pharmacist for several years. His next relocation was to Houston where he worked as a relief pharmacist for independently owned drug stores and Eckerd Drugs.
In Houston, he met his future wife, Nancy Null. They married in April 1972 and purchased an historic home built in 1898 in Missouri City, Texas. They embarked on renovating their home, welcomed their sons Joshua and Noah, and lived in Missouri City for 25 years.
A passion for the Texas Hill Country and adventure resulted in a 1997 move to Boerne where Jerry and Nancy built their self-designed dream home. Jerry’s love of traveling far and wide in the Hill Country and beyond was a passion that never diminished.
After working for 47 years as a pharmacist, Jerry retired in 2016 from HEB’s pharmacy in Boerne and spent his later years traveling and enjoying a quiet home life.
Jerry is pre-deceased by his parents, Max and Anna Coger, and a half-brother Robert Coger. He is survived by his wife Nancy, his son Joshua and son-in-law Paul, his son Noah and daughter-in-law Kelsi, precious grandson Wyatt, brothers Bill (Chloe), Steve (Beth), an aunt (Martha), brother-in-law Larry (Zhanna), and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville, Texas on Thursday, January 30, 2025, from 1 pm – 3 pm, with interment following at Smithville’s Oak Hill Cemetery.
