Joyclyn “Joy” Inge Redd, 87, of Smithville, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in Smithville.
Joy was born on August 26, 1937, in Kirtley, Texas, to U.L. and Abilee Inge. She spent her childhood in Galveston, Texas, before marrying Bass Redd in 1957. Together, they moved to LaPorte, Texas, in 1962 and later settled in Bastrop, Texas, in 1995. In 1996, they made their home in Smithville, Texas.
Joy is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Bass Redd, and their children, Dr. Mark Redd (spouse Sharon) and David Redd (spouse Kay). Joy cherished her family deeply, especially her six grandchildren: Johnathan Redd, Shelby Smith, Joseph Redd, Christopher Redd, Nathan Redd, and Haley Redd. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Carter Smith.
Beyond her family, Joy found her greatest joy in sharing God’s Word with children and women. She served faithfully as the director of Vacation Bible School at Bayshore Baptist Church in LaPorte and led the children’s ministry at Vista Baywood Apartment Complex for many years. Her passion for teaching extended to Women’s Sunday School classes, which she taught at both Bayshore Baptist Church and Rosanky Baptist Church. Joy touched countless lives with her love, humor, and compassion, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and kindness.
