Laverne Herrington

LaVerne Nan Herrington, 80, of Smithville, TX passed into the hands of our Lord on Tuesday March 6, 2018.

She was born to the late Roy and Mildred Christian on November 15, 1937 in Teague, Texas. She married David Herrington on November 27, 1958 and they lived together in Austin, Texas before relocating to Smithville in 1992.

In LaVerne's banking career, she held several positions including Teller, Personal Banker, Assistant Vice President and Head of the Proof Department until she retired in 2006.

After moving to Smithville, Laverne dedicated herseld to the community. She served as Elder for the First Presbyterian Church of Smithville, was a charter member of the Smithville Community Clinic was an active member of the Smithville Chamber of Commerce, the Seton Regional Hospital Auxillary, the Born-Again Emporium, the Friends of MD Anderson Cancer Center, Friends of the Smithville Public Library, The Smithville Heritatge Society, The Smithville Art Angels, and the Smithville ISD Education Development Site Based Committee.

LaVerne is survived by her husband of 59 years, David Herrington of Smithville; her brother Roy Nolan Christian and wife Patsy of Needville, TX; daughter Lisa Altmeyer and husband David of Kyle, TX; her son Michael Herrington and wife Misti of Austin TX; her 3 grandaughters Crystal Herrington Hernandez and husband Irving, Harleigh Herrington-Altmeyer and Tristyn Herrington-Altmeyer; her great grandson Olivier Hernandez Herrington along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. We must no leave out her beloved fur babies Rose and Hank.
