Our beloved La Verne passed away to be with her Heavenly Father on February 15th, 2019. La Verne was born and raised in Smithville, Texas. She moved to Norwalk, California in 1955 at the age of 21 where she was employed by the Pacific Telephone & Telegraph Company. During that time, she met and married Ronald Jay Puckett. In 1973 La Verne and her family returned to Smithville to live for the remainder of her life.
La Verne was an active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and the Alter Society. She participated in multiple charitable events and was known for her homemade jelly, creativity, sewing, cooking and baking.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Jay Puckett; Mother and father, Ida and Philip Beck and three brothers, Lambert, Alton and Daniel Beck, all of Smithville, Texas.
La Verne is survived by her only son, Thomas Puckett; granddaughter, Caitlin; grandson, T.J.; four sisters, Helen Tomlin, Catherine Harris, Betty Evans and Barbara Allen and an uncle, Clarence Beck. La Verne is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
