Linda Barta

Linda Mae Barta, 69, of Smithville Texas, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.

Linda was born on May 9, 1952 to Dorothy and Julius Mikulenka in Freeport, Texas. After graduating from Smithville ISD in 1970 she went to study nursing at The School of Nursing in Austin, Texas. After graduation, her first job was as a LVN for Smithville hospital. Starting off her 40 year career as a care giver. In 1972 she met Gilbert Barta, and they wed on October 19, 1974 going on to have two wonderful children Nicholas and Courtney Barta. After retiring in 2011, Linda spent her time taking care of her animals especially her fur babies Bella Rosa AKA Honey bunny as Linda would call her and Jody Blonde. She also enjoyed spending quiet time just on the farm.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Julius Mikulenka; brother, Johnny Ray Mikulenka; and brother-in- law, Jessie Barta. Linda is survived by husband and best friend of 47 years, Gilbert Barta; son, Nicholas Barta and wife, Erin Barta; daughter, Courtney Barta and Sammy Ventura; brother, Julius (Mickey) Mikulenka; niece, Chelsea Mikulenka, sister in law, Amiee Metting; five grandchildren, Kadence Barta, Koen Barta, John Paul Juarez, Xavier Juarez and Charlie Ventura; sister-in-law, Betty Barta, Diann Barta; and nephews and numerous Cousins.

Linda made a lasting impression on any one she met with her loving heart, warm smile and infectious laugh. Anyone who got the privilege of knowing her, knew how much she enjoyed helping and caring for people and animals. She is leaving us with so many wonderful memories to remember her by and a lifetime of love. Her legacy will live on through the stories we share and pass down to generations to come.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022, from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the chapel of Marrs-Jones Funeral Home followed by rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, at 2:00pm at St. Paul Catholic Church followed by interment in Kovar Catholic Cemetery.
