Merjean Andrews

On Tuesday, April 28th, Merjean H.  Andrews (Mom, Grandma, Oma) passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord.

Merjean was born September 29, 1931 in Copperas Cove to the late Ben and Olga Deorsam.  In 1951 she married Ernest M. Andrews who passed away in 1999.

Merjean found her passion, helping and taking care of others.  This led her to begin her journey at Blinn College and then graduated from Midwestern University, where she achieved her goal as being a Registered Nurse.  Soon after she found a place where she could share her love of helping people at the Austin State Hospital.  She cared for many patients over her 38 years there until she retired in 1992 to focus on caring for her parents.

Merjeans other loves were her family, visits to the beach and to make sure she always had a cup of coffee in her hand.

Merjean was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall, TX where her parents were also members.

Along with her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her two sons Steve and Gregory Andrews.

She is survived by her two daughters Brenda Reed, husband Joe Reed; Gaye Jones, husband Carl Jones Jr; and Sean Whitlock, wife Lori Whitlock whom she welcomed into the family as her own. Grandchildren Melissa Rivers, husband Derrick Rivers; Carla Friend, husband Erik Friend; Carl Jones lll, wife Abigail Jones;  Michael Reed, wife Michelle Reed, Wendy Jones, Zachary Whitlock, Ashley Walker, husband Dorian Walker, Meghan Luxton, husband Jim Luxton.  Great Grandchildren Kyla Green, Preston McMillan  Emma Reed, Noah Reed, Sean Hernandez,  Maddie Whitlock, Paige Jones, Bethany Friend, Payton Jones, Erik Friend Jr, Blake Rivers, Paisley Jones and Carl Jones IV.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the family is having a private gravesite service at the Taylor Memorial Cemetery.
