Milton Petzold

June 20, 1929 — January 9, 2019

Milton Charles Petzold, age 89 of Smithville, passed peacefully on January 9, 2019.

His wife, Mildred, 6 children (Barbara Cook of Katy, Ronald Petzold of Giddings, Deborah
Rich of Odessa, Gregory Petzold of La Grange, Susanne Nink of Kingwood, and
Christine Benedict of Corvallis, Oregon), 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren
survive him.

Milton grew up in Lincoln, Texas where his family owned a general store. He met and
married his first wife, Verna, in Giddings while working for the highway department in
1950. They always liked to tease that they met on the street where Verna walked home
from work each day. Not long after they married, Milton started working for a
seismograph company. They lived in many small towns in both Texas and Oklahoma
and finally settled in the community of Pin Oak where Verna grew up. Milton then went
to work for Alcoa in Rockdale. He moved up through the company and eventually
traveled to Australia and Brazil to help open new plants.

Along the way, he and Verna had SIX kids. He loved his family, traveling, and meeting
new people. He also loved spending time on the ranch with his cows…otherwise known
as his pets. After losing Verna, he was fortunate to meet and marry Mildred who made
him laugh and remember how to have fun in his golden years. She was at his side through
the end.
