Minnie Meyer

Minnie Mae (Sabrsula) Meyer, age 90 of La Grange, Texas, passed away on May 4, 2022, in Austin, Texas.

Minnie was born in Plum, Fayette County, Texas on February 29, 1932, the daughter of Walter and Sophronie (Moore)Sabrsula.

Minnie married Edward B. Meyer Jr. on April 14, 1952, and they were married for 46 years until his death on February 22, 1998.

Minnie Meyer worked from an early age to help her parents who farmed for a living in Plum, Texas. After her marriage to Edward B. Meyer Jr., she owned and operated Meyer’s Beauty Salon. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in La Grange, where she sang in the choir for many years. She did volunteer work for the Candy Stripers at Fayette Memorial Hospital. She also had an avid love for animals and gardening.

Minnie Meyer is survived by her three children. A son, Charles Allan Meyer and his wife of Austin, Texas; a daughter Nancy Lillian (Meyer) Zbranek and husband Dennis Zbranek of La Grange, Texas, a son John Edward Meyer of La Grange, Texas and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Her surviving siblings are a sister Mildred Lauraine of Gonzales, Texas, and a sister Lois and husband Dr. David Stahl of La Grange, Texas.

Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; Walter and Sophronie Sabrsula, her husband, Edward Meyer Jr; and five siblings, Vivian Sabrsula, Frank Sabrsula, John Sabrsula, Jack Sabrsula, and Betty (Sabrsula) Reed, one grandson Jeffrey Elton Rohde, and one great-grandson Asher Kenneth Minchew.

A Sunrise Graveside service will be held Friday, May 6th, 2022 at 8:00 am in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Smithville, Texas.
