Rebecca J. "Becky" Cooper

Rebecca Jean Cooper, 64, of Smithville, Texas, passed away on December 26, 2024. 

Becky was born to Joe Hubert and Florence Imogene Copeland in Pasadena, Texas on January 21, 1960. She attended Pasadena High School alongside her siblings and cousins, and excelled at school while participating in activities like drill team and the yearbook committee. She would also meet the love of her life, Fred Cooper, during her time there. They married in St. Pius Church in Pasadena on January 28, 1978. 

She and Fred moved to Smithville, Texas in 1981 where they would spend the rest of their life together, raising two daughters Bethany and Katie. Becky adored animals and had several beloved pets over the years, once donating one of her home born puppies to a school for service animals. Becky cared deeply about helping those in need and volunteered for a hotline serving domestic abuse victims, and often donated gifts to children in need during the Christmas season. 

Becky is preceded in death by her cherished infant son, Russell Frederick Cooper, her parents, Joe and Jean Copeland, and her brothers, Michael and Bobby Copeland. She is survived by her husband, Fred Cooper, daughters, Bethany (James) Collins and Katie Cooper, sister, Jackie (Larry) Lee, her three grandchildren, Ashton Walker, Monica Walker and Melanie Collins, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Becky's honor to the SPCA or animal shelter of your choice.

Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and the Rosary will begin at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00am on Friday, January 3, 2025 at St. Paul Catholic Church with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery.
