Sharon Adele Snyder was born on February 21, 1950 to Frank and Amy Hartray. Sharon was from Chicago but called Bastrop home for 42 years. She enjoyed a 38 year-long career as an R.N. and Diabetic Education teacher at St. David’s South Austin Medical Center. When not caring for others, she was a decades-long member of the choir at the First United Methodist Church, a talented artist, a secretively outstanding pianist, a righteous broad on a motorcycle, and an adventurer who would drop everything for a new hiking and camping adventure. On Monday, April 27, 2020, Sharon passed from sudden complications brought on by bladder cancer. With the true grit that defined her existence, she held on long enough for all of her family to make it home to say their goodbyes. Sharon is survived by her daughters, Amber Snyder and Vanessa Webb, and by her husband and friend of 43 years, Jeffrey Snyder. Special appreciation to Sharon’s selfless caregivers Deirdre O’Tierney, the O’Tierney clan, Rose and Brian Hensley, Andrew Brock, James the “brute” and the nurses of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center that stood by Sharon in her last moments of life. There are no public services currently scheduled, but the family is glad to accept any and all communications from friends of Sharon. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to The American Diabetes Association.
