Velma (Doll) Lee Ray, born on October 17, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, went to be with her loving husband Tommy Lee Ray on March 16, 2022.
Doll was born the youngest of three daughters to Ervin and Fern Kramer in 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri where she grew up and attended school with her sisters, Doris Jeanne and Bette June. In 1957 she moved with her mother, Fern and her grandmother Cora Sargent, to Houston, Texas where she met her husband Tommy and raised a family. In 1958, with the help of her sister Jeanne, Doll was employed by Rice University and worked there until retiring in 1993. After retiring, her and Tommy moved to the family cattle ranch in Muldoon, Texas, where the city girl worked at being a part time country girl, they lived happily together until his death in December 2013. Doll enjoyed the company of her family and friends in Muldoon, the hometown of her husband, for many years afterwards until March 16, 2022 when she rejoined her husband and her family.
Velma is survived by her son, Tommy Lee Ray II and his wife, Arlene Ray; daughter, Tracy Fern Farrington and her husband, William Farrington; grandchildren, William Farrington II, Weston Farrington, Mark Ferguson, Candice Ferguson, Brett Ferguson, and Autumn Powers.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 20, 2022 from 5:00pm-7:00pm in the chapel of Marrs-Jones Funeral Home in Smithville, TX. Funeral services will be Monday, March 21, 2022, in the chapel of Marrs-Jones Funeral Home followed by interment in Pitman cemetery in Muldoon, TX.
