William Dale "Bubba" Behrend

William Dale (Bubba) Behrend, 71 years of age, passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at home with his loving wife Valeria Karol Behrend by his side. Dale was born on October 29, 1952, in Austin, Texas to the late Willie Darrell and Bernice Irene Behrend. He was the middle child of three children. Dale graduated from Smithville High School, where he was voted “cutest boy in the class.”

He lived in Austin, Texas and worked for IBM and LCRA before relocating to Pflugerville. He also lived in Smithville where he raised cattle. He finally settled in Paige, where he and Karol built their home together.

Dale loved taking care of his cows and enjoyed barbequing, woodworking and being a Mason. Bubba was well known to many and they would always say that he was fun, dependable and a cut-up. His greatest joy was spending time with family, and he enjoyed small town festivals. He always loved the Smithville barbecue cook offs, jamboree and the McDade Watermelon Festivals in addition to old westerns and cars.
He rebuilt a beautiful 1955 Chevy that he was so proud of.

 Dale was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He is survived by his wife Valeria Karol Behrend, daughter Christy Lynn Smith, his stepdaughter Wendi Roundtree, his sisters Donna Kadlecek (Husband Daniel) and Nancy Vydrzal (Husband Billy) as well as two grandchildren Alyssa and Cayden Smith, whom he loved with all his heart.

Dale will be missed by all who knew him, but he will never be forgotten. His memories will live on forever in our hearts.

Visitation will be from 2:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Marrs Jones Funeral Home. The funeral home is located at 110 American Legion Rd in Smithville Texas. 

Gravesides services will be held at 2:00pm on Monday September 16, 2024 at Siloah Cemetery in McDade, Texas.
