Willie Edward (Buddy) Kellar, age 86, of Smithville, went to be with our Lord in Heaven on May 31st, 2020.
He was born to Will and Beaulah Kellar on April 3rd, 1934 in Smithville, Texas. Buddy was an “All American” football player and graduated from Smithville High School class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Army and later became a highly respected high school football coach for 38 years.
Buddy was a loving father to his sons and “Poppy” to his grandchildren, an involved member of his community and a man of many trades. He was loved by many and will forever be missed by family and friends.
Buddy is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Yoast Kellar, mother of his two sons and his second wife, Beverly Kellar, parents, sisters; Dorothy Miller, Dot Dinges and Martha Yoast, brothers; Homer, Lumar, Wilbert and John Kellar.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy and Lonnie Kellar. Granddaughters; Kylan, Kasey and Hayli Kellar, grandson, Lane Kellar. Numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by, Betty Evans, his best friend and partner who shared his life for the last five years.
The family would like to thank Serenity Hospice, his care givers; Jimmy Kellar, Brandy Seals and Betty Evans.
